CAMEROON - Mühlenchemie, a global leader in flour improvement, is set to hold a two-day workshop in Cameroon on October 16th and 17th, aiming to tackle the specific challenges faced by the flour milling industry in Central Africa.

Themed “Opportunities and Practical Solutions for Regional Challenges,” the event will bring together industry leaders, stakeholders, and flour milling experts to explore innovations that enhance both flour quality and production efficiency in the region.

“We are excited to engage with our customers and partners in the region. Our goal is to help mills in Central Africa enhance their product quality and efficiency, ultimately ensuring food security and meeting market demands,” a representative from Mühlenchemie expressed the company’s enthusiasm for engaging with regional stakeholders.

Focus on flour quality and improvement

The workshop will cover a broad range of topics, including the latest advancements in flour improvement and fortification, with the goal of equipping millers with practical solutions for the unique challenges they encounter.

Central to the event will be Mühlenchemie’s “ABC of Flour,” which focuses on everything from the aroma of flour to the technicalities of baguette-making. Notably, the growing importance of composite flours, which integrate local grains to reduce dependency on imported wheat, will be a key topic.

Enhancing product quality with flour improvers

Participants will also benefit from hands-on training, learning how to apply advanced techniques and innovative solutions directly to their milling operations.

Mühlenchemie’s sessions will delve into the role of flour improvers in enhancing product quality. These additives are crucial for extending the shelf life of flour, improving texture, and ensuring that the flour meets the specific needs of local consumers.

Furthermore, the workshop will address the application of these improvers in pasta production, a staple food in many Central African countries.

Improving milling efficiency through technology

Beyond flour quality, the workshop will emphasize the need for greater operational efficiency in milling processes.

Mühlenchemie has partnered with leading global technology providers to offer a comprehensive perspective on milling innovations.

Bühler Group, a world leader in milling machinery, will present the latest advancements in milling technology aimed at optimizing energy use, reducing downtime, and improving productivity.

KPM Analytics and Anton Paar Southern Africa will also share their expertise, focusing on advanced tools for flour testing and analysis to ensure that flour meets quality standards and regulatory compliance.

According to Mühlenchemie, the workshop will provide more than just technical insights. It will offer practical, real-world applications that participants can implement immediately in their milling facilities.
