USA- Ingredion Incorporated, a major global supplier of ingredient solutions for food, beverage, and industrial applications, has announced the expansion of its plant protein portfolio with VITESSENCE Pea 200 D, a high-solubility pea protein isolate.

Specifically designed to meet the demands of the growing nutritional beverage market, this innovation aims to provide manufacturers with a protein option that enhances the flavor and mouthfeel of ready-to-mix (RTM) beverages.

The new VITESSENCE Pea 200 D isolate seeks to address a common industry challenge in formulating plant-based nutritional beverages: achieving a smooth, lump-free texture without sedimentation.

This pea protein isolate offers improved dispersibility, which Ingredion highlights as crucial for a creamy texture and consistent product experience.

The ingredient also maintains a clean, neutral flavor profile that allows manufacturers to minimize the need for flavor maskers, offering flexibility for a wide range of applications.

Key features and industry advantages

VITESSENCE Pea 200 D contains 80% protein on a dry basis, meeting industry standards for high protein content while offering superior solubility, allowing for quick dispersion in liquids.

The ingredient, which is produced in North America, is designed to support a wide array of flavor profiles, and the enhanced texture minimizes the need for additional stabilizers and thickeners.

Jeff Billig, Vice President and General Manager of protein fortification at Ingredion, expressed the company’s goals for the new protein isolate.

“This product will help manufacturers appeal to RTM beverage consumers seeking plant-based protein fortification with superior flavor and texture,” he stated, adding that VITESSENCE Pea 200 D represents Ingredion’s commitment to quality and nutrition in the plant protein industry.

Launch and industry availability

The VITESSENCE Pea 200 D protein isolate will initially be available in the U.S. and Canada, with plans for a subsequent rollout across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).
