USA - Eco-Products, a company known for sustainable foodservice solutions, has introduced a new line of reusable containers called Veda, designed for foodservice environments such as college campuses, corporate offices, hospitals, and military bases.
The launch follows a strategic investment by Eco-Products' parent company, Novolex, in OZZI—a brand specializing in reusable container systems. Through this partnership, Veda containers incorporate advanced tracking and collection technology by OZZI, aiming to streamline the use and return process for consumers.
Wendell Simonson, Director of Marketing at Eco-Products, emphasized the significance of the initiative in waste reduction.
“Reuse is a critically important element of the waste diversion toolkit. We’re excited to bring the same passion to reusable systems that has defined our approach to compostability, and believe the two solutions can be complementary while reuse gains traction,” he stated.
How Veda containers work
Using Veda containers is straightforward for consumers: they acquire a container through a one-time purchase, deposit, or as part of a dining program, and can either dine on-site or take their meal to-go.
Once they are finished, consumers return the container to an OZZI collection machine, where it is scanned and stored. In return, users receive a token or credit for their next container or are refunded their deposit, depending on the program.
Designed for integration, the OZZI system can operate independently or connect to campus meal plan systems, such as CBORD, Atrium, and Transact.
Product versatility and compliance
Veda containers come in multiple sizes to meet various food service needs, with options that include one-compartment and three-compartment containers in dimensions like 8x8, 9x9, 9x6, and 5x5 inches.
These containers are NSF-certified, meeting stringent food protection and sanitation standards, and are built to withstand up to 1,000 washes, as verified by Ecolab Ware testing.
By merging Eco-Products’ dedication to sustainability with OZZI’s reusable systems expertise, Veda containers are poised to make a significant impact in reducing single-use waste within closed-loop foodservice settings.
