INDIA - In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Sula Vineyards, India’s leading and most renowned wine producer, has announced the launch of its latest creation, the Sula Merlot.
This release is a notable milestone for the brand, marking the first addition to the core Sula wine series in nearly a decade.
Merlot, a globally cherished red grape variety known for its soft and approachable characteristics, is now available to Indian wine enthusiasts at a price of INR 895 (US$10.68).
“We are delighted to unveil Sula Merlot, a wine that represents our 25-year journey in the Indian wine industry. With its velvety texture, rich fruit flavors, and hints of chocolate and cherries, Sula Merlot is designed to captivate wine lovers,” Gorakh Gaikwad, Chief Winemaker at Sula Vineyards, expressed enthusiasm about the new release.
“This elegant and delightful red is ideally enjoyed slightly chilled, making it a versatile choice for any occasion.”
The Sula Merlot is now available at select retail outlets in Mumbai and Pune. The wine's pricing and quality are expected to attract both seasoned connoisseurs and new enthusiasts, offering a refreshing and sophisticated option for a variety of occasions.
Sula Vineyards, which commands over 50% of India’s domestic wine market and produces more than 1 million cases annually, continues to grow its influence. The company operates five wineries across Maharashtra and Karnataka, boasting nearly 70 different wine labels.
In addition to this latest launch, Sula Vineyards has recently reported a 9.7% increase in revenue for the first quarter of FY 2025, reaching INR 129.6 crore (US$15.47M).
The company plans to further enhance its wine tourism operations with the introduction of a 30-room resort at York Winery in Nashik by 2026. Sula already operates two other hotels: the 37-room Beyond by Sula and the 66-room The Source at Sula.
