USA - SGS North America (SGS) has broadened its food safety and quality assurance testing capabilities for the North American food and nutraceutical sectors, now operating from a newly established, larger facility in Fairfield, New Jersey.
This move aims to support increasing client demand for high-quality testing services, particularly given the region’s prominence as a food manufacturing hub.
The facility offers a comprehensive suite of testing options, including rapid and traditional food pathogen testing, hygiene and quality indicator testing, and environmental monitoring in food production, with both pathogen and indicator testing.
Jodi Gubin-Jurgens, Head of Food at SGS North America, noted the importance of the facility’s expansion.
“With New Jersey and neighboring states being one of the largest food manufacturing hubs in North America, we are very pleased with our current success and look forward to utilizing a larger facility to further serve current and future clients with their food testing needs,” he said.
Gubin-Jurgens highlighted the factors driving growth in demand for food and wellness product testing, citing regulatory requirements, such as the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), and rising consumer demand for safe, high-quality products.
Comprehensive analytical services for food and nutraceuticals
SGS’s expanded facility offers a wide range of analytical services critical to the supply chain of consumable goods, including food microbiology, chemistry testing, supplement analysis, pet food testing, and food allergen detection.
The lab also conducts nutritional testing, label verification, shelf-life assessments, and screens for chemical contaminants.
These services form a crucial part of quality assurance for products reaching North American consumers and support the multi-billion dollar food and nutraceutical market, which is anticipated to experience robust growth.
This new facility integrates with SGS's established network of ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratories across North America, which includes facilities in California, South Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and British Columbia, Canada.
By extending its capacity in the Northeast region, SGS aims to provide faster turnaround times and heightened support for clients, leveraging over 35 years of global testing experience and more than 27 years in North America.
